The safety
A so-called "safety match" must conform to a certain
number of defined standards. In particular, it must blazes up
only on the box stricker.
Indeed, contrary to the "universal friction match"
which blazes up on any kind of rough surface, the chemical composition
of the "safety match" head and that of the box stricker
are complementary. The conflagration is possible only by rubbing
down each other with enough strength to avoid a too easy lighting.
FLAM'UP matches are fireproofed to avoid the formation of embers
when extinguished : as soon as the flame is blown out the combustion
stops. They are treated and dried to eliminate all pathogenic
bacteria. All FLAM'UP boxes are clearly marked with child safety
precautions. Moreover, All FLAM’UP matches are controlled
on each steps of manufacturing according to the European standards
EN 1783. |

The quality commitment
All FLAM’UP matches are safety maches.
The Saintines Head Office updates regularly
its organisation and processes.
It obtained the ISO 9002 certificate in September 1999,
then ISO 9001 version 2000 in 2003 which has been renewed
in 2004.
FLAM'UP guarantees the "routing" of its matches
: all matchboxes are marked with the date of packaging which
allows to have access to the date of manufacturing of all
the constituent elements of the finished product.
The quality laboratory of Saintines controls individually
300 000 matches each year. All defects are spotted product
by product and workshop by workshop. This allows to define
an index of "poor quality" which decreases as the
quality increases. The global INQ factory has gone up from
1 600 in 1995 (date of its implementation) to 393 in 2000.
